The 22-year-old Sri Lanka National Cricket Team left-arm medium pacer Lokumarakkalage Dilshan Madushanka bagged the big wicket of India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma on his ODI debut on Tuesday, January 10.
Madushanka made his debut in the 50-over format for Sri Lanka in the first ODI of the three-match series against India at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The 22-year-old represented the Lankan Team in 9 T20Is, before getting his maiden ODI cap.

Dilshan Madushanka initially bowled some decent lines and lengths on his debut, before coming back and picking up the huge wicket of Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who was dominating with the bat, in his 5th over.
On the first ball of his 5th over, which was the 24th over of the match, Madushanka bowled a length ball angling across the right-hander and Rohit’s feet went nowhere as he tried to push at it away from the body and he only managed to get a big inside edge and the ball crashed into the stumps.

Rohit Sharma Falls Short Of A Ton In 1st ODI
India’s new opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided the side with an excellent start in the match. After 10 overs, India were at 75 at the loss of no wicket.
Indian captain reached the 50 runs mark off 41 balls, with 7 fours and 2 sixes, and the opening duo completed 100 runs partnership in 89 balls. He stitched together brilliant 143 runs in 118 balls with Gill before Dasun Shanaka ended the partnership by dismissing the young opener.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma played an attacking brand of cricket and smashed brilliant 83 runs off 67 balls, with 9 fours and 3 sixes. The 35-year-old batted with a strike rate of 123.88. However, he once again failed to register a century, with his last ODI ton coming in January 2020 against Australia.
Earlier, Sri Lanka National Cricket Team won the toss, opted to bowl first in the match and made just one change to the side that played the third T20I by including young left-arm spinning allrounder Dunith Wellalage for Maheesh Theekshana. On the other hand, India had no place for in-form Suryakumar Yadav and double-centurion Ishan Kishan in the team.
