The left-handed Nic Maddinson signs a three-year deal with Melbourne Stars, a franchise team in the BBL.

Meanwhile, Maddinson will replace England star Kevin Pietersen, who announced his retirement recently.

Further, the hard-hitting Maddinson represented Sydney Sixers for the last seven years. He was one of the mainstays in Sixers batting line-up scoring tons of runs. Meanwhile, he was Sixers highest run-scorer in the BBL. Maddinson notched up 291 runs at an average of 32.33 during the 2017-18 BBL season.

Looking forward to new challenges:

Further, Maddinson thanked his previous franchise for all the memories. Although the decision was tough, Maddinson admitted he was looking for new challenges.

I have very much enjoyed my time at the Sydney Sixers over the last several years and am very grateful for the opportunities they have given me,” Maddinson noted.

While it was a very difficult decision to leave, I now look forward to taking on new challenges at the Melbourne Stars. I have some good friends in the Stars squad, and I’ve heard great things about the culture that Stephen Fleming, the coaching staff, and the leadership team has created. My focus will be on helping the Melbourne Stars win the BBL,” he added.

Meanwhile, batting coach David Hussey feels Maddinson will perfectly fit in their new-look batting line-up.

“Nic has been a consistent performer in the BBL for the past seven seasons and, with the departure of Kevin Pietersen, we knew he would be the perfect fit for our new-look batting line up next season,” Hussey said.
