Abid Ali To Continue Rehab For A Week, Advised Rest For Two Months After Angioplasty - Reports

Pakistan opener Abid Ali will be continuing rehab in the hospital before being discharged. He has also been advised to rest for two months after undergoing an angioplasty and a second heart procedure, reports mentioned.

Ali complained of chest pain during a match in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He was immediately taken to the hospital where scans confirmed that he has Acute Coronary Syndrome. Ali went under the knife soon after and has now commenced his rehabilitation.

He has been advised to take a two-month break after which they will assess him again,” a source close to Ali was quoted as saying by PTI.

Abid Ali on Thursday commenced his rehabilitation. As part of his rehabilitation process, he did light walking in the morning without showing any discomfort. He will continue his rehab in the hospital until he is discharged early next week,” Pakistan Cricket Board also revealed.

The PCB also mentioned that the second heart procedure went through successfully. He is now recovering and they have also requested the fans to give privacy to Ali’s family during this tough phase.

Abid underwent a second procedure today. The procedure was successfully completed and he is recovering. The PCB medical team is liaising with Interventional Cardiologist regarding further treatment and rehabilitation. Abid is currently stable,” PCB had said.

The 34-year-old Ali has two stents inserted inside his heart following the angioplasty. He also revealed in a message that he is faring well and requested his fans to pray for his wellbeing.

I am thankful to God as I am faring well. I request all of you to pray for me as I have a small medical procedure tomorrow. So I request all my family members, fans and all my well-wishers to pray for me,” Ali said.

Ali has played for Pakistan in 16 Tests and was recently the Man of the Series in the 2-match Test series against Bangladesh.
