Chetan Sharma, the current chairman of the national selection committee for the Indian cricket team, is most likely to continue in that role.

Initially, it was discovered that Sharma had reapplied for the position despite the fact that he and his committee had been sacked due to Team India’s elimination from the T20 World Cup 2022.

The teams for the next Sri Lanka series were left up to the leaving selection panel, as the new chairman and board had not yet been properly named. Despite the substantial deal being provided, reports indicated that there were not enough candidates.

The individuals who exhibited an interest in the position were allegedly interviewed by the three-member Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) panel on January 2. The Ashok Malhotra-led committee reportedly spoke with six to seven former Indian players, per an NDTV story.

Chetan Sharma, Harvinder Singh, Amay Khurasia, Ajay Ratra, SS Das, S Sharath, and Connor Williams were among those that took part.

It is worth mentioning that Venkatesh Prasad, a well-known former pacer, was not invited to the interview. Harvinder Singh, a member of the Sharma-led selection panel, is also expected to keep his position based on the CAC’s recommendation.

Chetan Sharma replaced former player Sunil Joshi at the helm:

In December 2020, Chetan Sharma, the first Indian bowler to record a World Cup hat trick, took over as chairman. He took over as manager in lieu of former player Sunil Joshi.

Sharma and Harvinder Singh appear prepared to take on the chairman and North Zone selector positions, respectively. Determining candidates to lead the remaining zones will thus be the CAC’s principal duty.

The CAC is expected to make a judgment soon. The new selection panel’s first assignment may be to decide on squads for the forthcoming home series against New Zealand.
