Cricket Canada (CC) has confirmed that they will be flying out their U-19 team in the West Indies after the camp was infected with a flurry of positive covid-19 cases.
As many as nine players tested positive according to the ICC‘s release, ensuring that Canada will not be able to field a playing XI for their final Plate Group match and the subsequent playoff spots.
“It’s very unfortunate that these young men have to go through this kind of a challenge in their young career. We are focused on getting these players back home safely and quickly. It’s a very unfortunate incident that most of our players tested positive but that’s the world we are living in with this pandemic,” CC president Rashpal Bajwa told Cricbuzz on Saturday.

Cricket Canada also revealed that the arrangements have been made for the players to begin their isolation period. As per the team manager, the players are asymptomatic and will be under the constant eye of the medical staff.
With that, Canada’s World Cup comes to an end without a win in their kitty. They have lost all three of their Group A matches before losing a playoff game against Ireland.
