The state of Pakistani cricket is intriguing. A new regime has taken over at PCB with Najam Sethi replacing Ramiz Raja in the running, completely overhauling the selection committee, and it’s possible that the coaching staff may follow suit. According to reports, Mickey Arthur has agreed to coach Pakistan online.

He has no plans to leave his position as head coach of Derbyshire at this time. He would nevertheless support the Babar Azam-led team in the meantime by participating in online sessions. According to further rumors, he would actively coach the team while the World Cup is being held in India later this year.

I Can Accept Criticism If The Team Is Not Doing Well: Wasim Akram

Wasim Akram, a renowned Pakistani bowler, was questioned whether he was willing to serve as the team’s coach amidst all of this. The former captain said categorically “no,” noting that coaches in Pakistan are subjected to both criticism and abuse.

“I can accept criticism if the team is not doing well. But in Pakistan cricket, it is intolerable the way the captain and coaches are not only criticised but also abused by everyone,” Akram said in an interview as quoted by PTI.

“The abuse and at times hate which the captain and coach have to bear, I don’t think I am up to it. I don’t have that tolerance level, especially when it comes to the use of social media. They are some people who I think only sit on Twitter day and night to send out negative comments.”

I Am Always Willing To Be Of Service To Pakistan Cricket: Wasim Akram

Akram said that he didn’t want the additional anxiety that is associated with managing the national team. “League cricket is different, the pressure and expectation levels are different, which is why I am involved with the Karachi Kings side in the PSL.”

The legendary fast bowler claimed that in his capacity as coach of the Karachi team, several players frequently contact him to talk cricket and that he is always there to support and mentor them.

“I am always willing to be of service to Pakistan cricket but not at the cost of having to bear unnecessary criticism and abuse from anyone out there.”
