Former Proteas skipper, AB de Villiers opened up on India’s star pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, and said that it is exciting to see the 29-year-old fast bowler in form.

Jasprit Bumrah made his return from injury in the Ireland series and picked four wickets in the first two matches of the three-game series and was named the Player of the series.

Bumrah also led the Men in Blues on their tour of Ireland and won the series by 2-0 after the last match was abandoned due to rain.

Jasprit Bumrah was out of the India squad for more than 10 months after he suffered an overload fracture and had to go through surgery.

The 29-year-old’s return from injury has made India’s bowling attack more stronger, which already has big names like Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj.

I am not surprised at all with Jasprit Bumrah’s performance: AB de Villiers

While speaking on his official YouTube channel, the former South Africa captain mentioned how the pacer won the Player of the Series just after coming back from injury which proves what talent the fast bowler holds in him.

AB de Villiers added that he is not surprised after seeing Jasprit Bumrah’s performance in the Ireland series and is excited to see the fast bowler in action in the upcoming Asia Cup.

“Bumrah even won the Man of the Series in Ireland, coming back from injury, which shows you what kind of talent he is. I have heard the coaches say that he has never been away. I am not surprised at all with Bumrah’s performance and it’s exciting to see him in form,” AB de Villiers on the 29-year-old Indian pacer.

While talking about Yuzvendra Chahal, the former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) said that it is disappointing for him to see the spinner out of the squad. AB de Villiers added that since the decision has already been made, now we have to accept it.

“It is a bit of a disappointing drop for me as well. I think Yuzi is always handy with that leg-spinning option. We know how skillful and smart he can be. But the decision has been made and it is what it is,” de Villiers added.

India will lock horns against Pakistan in their opening match of the Asia Cup 2023 on Saturday (September 2nd). The game will be played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
