Lucknow Super Giants head coach Justin Langer has delivered a positive update on fast-bowler Mayank Yadav. The fast bowler is currently out of action due to an injury.

After failing to find a place in the team for LSG's tournament opener against Rajasthan Royals, Mayank Yadav got the chance to make his IPL debut in the second game against Punjab Kings and announced his arrival in style. He constantly touched the 150kph mark and picked up three wickets to help his side win the game and get off the mark in IPL 2024.

In the third game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he bowled another match-winning spell as he picked up three more wickets. In the following game against Gujarat Titans, he walked off the field after bowling just one over. He hardly touched the 140kph mark in the over before deciding to walk off the field.

"He felt a little bit of tightness at the top of his hip leading into the last game, but that was about a one-out-of-ten pain, and we thought that there were clinical signs. Everything through the doctors and the physios seemed perfectly okay. He bowled that first over [against Titans] and started feeling something in his hip," Langer had said after the game against Gujarat Titans.

While LSG went on to win the game against Gujarat Titans, they ended up on the losing side in the following two games against Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders in Mayank Yadav's absence. The right-arm pacer is also not a part of the game against Chennai Super Kings on Friday (April 19).

Justin Langer on Mayank Yadav:

Mayank Yadav looks set to return to action soon as Justin Langer has revealed that the pacer has started bowling in the nets. Speaking before the game against Chennai Super Kings, the former Australia batsman stated that the fast-bowler has been really working hard and also looked in good rhythm.

"He is working really hard. He bowled really well this morning. Keeping fingers crossed, I think he will be back in the next game or so," said Langer.

Meanwhile, LSG have won three of their first six games in IPL 2024 and will be eyeing a fourth win against CSK.
