The 27-year-old New Zealand National Cricket Team pacer Kyle Jamieson is close to gaining bowling fitness. Notably, the right-arm pacer will be resuming bowling for the first time since June.

Kiwi Kyle Jamieson had suffered a back injury during the three-match Test series against England National Cricket Team in June and the injury ruled him out of the England tour.

Jamieson sustained an injury while bowling on day three of the second Test against England at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

He was forced to walk back out of the field with a stress reaction in his back, which was the first major injury he had suffered since making his international debut for the Black Caps in 2020. After suffering the back injury the 27-year-old pacer was ruled out of the limited-overs series that followed in Europe and the Caribbean.

New Zealand National Cricket Team head coach Gary Stead, who arrived back in Auckland on Thursday, has provided a major update on Jamieson’s injury. He said that the pacer will soon resume bowling.

“Kyle’s very, very close to starting bowling again,” Stead said, as quoted by Stuff.

“He’s been back in the gym and doing a few batting sessions as well and he’s at the stage of his rehab right now where he is starting to really get going.”

Along with Jamieson, right-arm pacer Adam Milne has also been ruled out of the upcoming Chappell-Hadlee Trophy one-day international series against Australia National Cricket Team, which is scheduled to begin next month, after suffering an Achilles injury in Ireland in July.

New Zealand would be hoping that the pacers become fit ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Tim Southee, Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson are the first three pace-bowling choices of the Black Caps and pacers like Jamieson, Adam Milne, Matt Henry, Ben Sears and Blair Tickner are fighting for the remaining slots in the T20 World Cup squad.
