PAK vs NZ: Tim Southee Overcomes Daniel Vettori To Become New Zealand's Highest Wicket-taker In International Cricket

On Friday, New Zealand bowler Tim Southee eclipsed compatriot and illustrious all-rounder Daniel Vettori to become his nation’s all-time highest wicket-taker in international cricket. The seasoned bowler set this mark during Pakistan’s third ODI match against New Zealand in Karachi.

Tim Southee excelled in the game, taking 3/56 in 10 overs with an economy rate of 5.6. Agha Salman (45), Mohammed Nawaz (8), and Usama Mir (6) were all dismissed by him.

New Zealand Win ODI Series Against Pakistan

The series has been won by New Zealand 2-1. Both the first-ever white ball series triumph in Pakistan and their first series victory there since 1969.

Regarding the game, Pakistan scored 280/9 in their 50 overs after deciding to bat first. Fakhar Zaman’s century (101 off 122 balls), his eighth, Mohammed Rizwan’s fifty (77), and Salman’s entertaining 45-ball innings all helped.

Southee finished the day as the leading bowler for the Kiwis, with 3/56. Ish Sodhi and Michael Bracewell each grabbed one wicket, while Lockie Ferguson took two wickets.

NZ remained in contention when chasing 281 thanks to fifty-plus scores from top-order batsmen Devon Conway (52) and skipper Williamson (53) but they eventually fell to 205/6 due to frequent wicket losses. Then Phillips for the Kiwis turned the game around, hitting an undefeated 63 off 42 balls with four boundaries and four sixes to secure a victory for his team.
