Rawalpindi hosts the PAK vs NZ first T20I on April 18, Thursday. The match starts at 8 pm IST. The two teams play a five-match T20I series for the third time now in the last two years. 

Pakistan drew the first T20I series in April last year under Babar Azam. Under Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan lost 4-1. The upcoming series will be the third series now. 

The series will help Pakistan prepare for the T20 World Cup. Mohammed Amir and Imad Wasim are already out with their retirements.

They will be playing in this series and will prepare themselves for the tournament. Amir picked up 10 wickets for the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL. Wasim also picked up 12 wickets and scored 126 runs for the scored 126 runs in the tournament.

New Zealand will be led by Michael Bracewell. They are sending a particularly second-string team to play against Pakistan. Several of their regular players are playing in the IPL while some others have opted out of the series. Injuries to Finn Allen and Adam Milne have further weakened the Kiwi team before the start of the series.

The two teams have played 39 T20Is with Pakistan winning 21 and New Zealand 17 games. Five more games will take the tally to 44 T20I matches between the two sides, the most among two cricketing teams. Eventually, they will play 50 T20I matches between themselves.

Currently, the weather conditions are cloudier and cooler in Rawalpindi with a 95 percent chance of rain. The match starts at 7.30 pm local time.

The temperatures by then will drop down to 18 degrees and the weather conditions will remain cloudy. There is a very big chance of rain in the daytime and the wet ground condition might delay the start of the team.
