Bangladesh fast-bowler Taskin Ahmed has confirmed he will miss the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand at home. The right-arm pacer won’t be able to play the series due to a shoulder injury.

Taskin Ahmed suffered an injury during the World Cup and had to miss a couple of matches. He is still recovering from the injury and will begin rehabilitation shortly. The Bangladesh star also stated that he is hopeful of recovering completely ahead of the three-match T20I series against New Zealand in December. The T20I series is scheduled to take place in New Zealand. It means he will also miss the ODI series in New Zealand.

“I was playing with a tear in my shoulder and I couldn’t find my best rhythm (in the World Cup),” Taskin Ahmed was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

“I will not be playing the Test series against New Zealand at home in the coming winter as I want to do start rehabilitation after taking some rest and hoping to be available for the T20Is against New Zealand that is scheduled after our home series against them,” he added.

More injury woes for Bangladesh:

Taskin Ahmed is not the only big name who will miss the upcoming Test series against New Zealand. Bangladesh will also be without their veteran allrounder Shakib Al Hasan for the crucial series. Shakib suffered a fractured finger during the World Cup game against Sri Lanka and is set to miss the Test series. The availability of senior opener Tamim Iqbal is also in doubt.

Meanwhile, Taskin Ahmed also wished Allan Donald who stepped down as the fast-bowling coach of Bangladesh after the World Cup. Praising the South African great for his contribution to Bangladesh cricket, the pacer said:

“He (Donald) took care of our fast bowling exceptionally well. He always backed us regardless of our performance. He motivated us a lot. I enjoyed working with him. He is leaving us, but that’s life. Every coach has a two or four-year span. I wish him for his future.”

The two-match Test series is scheduled to be played from November 28. The second Test will begin on December 6.
