England rookie fast bowler Ollie Robinson is well on track to play his first Test on Wednesday when they take on New Zealand at the Lord’s in the first of the two Tests. Ollie Robinson earned his maiden call-up to the Test squad against New Zealand and has a chance to cement a spot for the five-match Test series against India too. The 27-year old has straightaway targeted Kiwis’ batting mainstay, Kane Willaimson, revealing the plan to dismiss him.

Ollie Robinson has been in the frame for an England call-up for a long time, having impressed in county cricket consistently. The current season of the County Championship has seen the 27-year old take 29 scalps in five matches at 14.72, with two fifers and a ten-wicket haul. Overall, in first-class cricket, Robinson has 279 scalps in 63 fixtures at 21.04, picking up 16 fifers and five ten-wicket hauls.

As for Kane Williamson, he could frustrate even the best of the bowlers with his patience, guile, and street-smartness. The number one ranked Test batsman is a part of the fab four and is only some distance away from being New Zealand’s second-highest run-getter in Tests. The 30-year old’s last four Test scores are 251, 129, 21, and 238, based on which he toppled Steve Smith from the top spot. Williamson will look to assert his authority ahead of the ICC World Test Championship final against India.

Ollie Robinson revealed that he will try swinging the ball away from Kane Williamson, pulling him across the crease, and finally using the crease with a nip-backer to get him lbw. The Kent-born right-arm seamer said that it is Plan A and he has a few more tricks up his sleeves if the Kiwi captain is ready for it.

“Swinging it away from him, setting him up, pulling him across the crease and then using the crease with the nip backer to get him lbw looks like a solid option. That will be Plan A, but if he get a few more we have got a few Plans Bs and Cs in the background,” Robinson said as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo.

Ollie Robinson claimed that it’s undeniably special to play Test cricket for England, which further elevates when doing so at the Lord’s with the fans back. The 27-year old remains confident of doing well if given a chance as he does not feel too nervous, asserting he has the game to step it up to Test cricket.

“Any time you get to make your debut is obviously very special but to do it at Lord’s with fans back, it will make it even more special. I do feel like if I get my chance I am ready. I don’t feel too nervous at the moment and I feel like I should take to it fairly well. I definitely feel like I have got different gears that I can step up to in Test cricket,” he added.
