Preity Zinta, co-owner of Punjab Kings (PBKS), expressed her admiration for former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni on a social media platform on Monday, May 6. Preity Zinta admitted to being a fan of MS Dhoni and wanted him to hit some big sixes against the Punjab bowlers.

MS Dhoni is considered one of the greatest cricketers in Indian cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL). He's currently playing under Ruturaj Gaikwad's captaincy, and IPL 2024 may mark his final season. The wicketkeeper-batter stepped down from the captaincy before the start of the season.

Wanted MS Dhoni To Hit Some Big Sixes - Preity Zinta

Preity Zinta engaged in a chat session, #pzchat, where a fan expressed interest in seeing MS Dhoni play for PBKS. The Bollywood actress revealed her own desire to have Dhoni on her team. Preity described the previous match as bittersweet, as she wanted to see Dhoni hit sixes and Punjab win.

"Mam We Want Ms Dhoni in Punjab Kings," a user asked on X (formerly known as Twitter).

"Everyone wants him and everyone is his fan including me. Yesterday was bittersweet. I wanted us to win and him to hit some big sixes but we lost and he got out. The only bright spot was our bowlers did so well in restricting them but eventually it was not enough," Zinta replied.

MS Dhoni has been dismissed twice in two matches after going unbeaten for seven consecutive games. He has scored 110 runs in 11 matches with an average of 55 and an impressive strike rate exceeding 224. The veteran cricketer continues to bat lower down the order despite public demand.

Chennai Super Kings Secure 28 Run Victory Over Punjab Kings

The Chennai Super Kings suffered an early dismissal of Ajinkya Rahane, but Ruturaj Gaikwad (32) and Daryl Mitchell (30) stabilized the innings. Ravindra Jadeja scored a quick 43-run knock as CSK posted 167/9 in 20 overs. Rahul Chahar and Harshal Patel took three wickets each in Dharamsala.

Tushar Deshpande dismissed Jonny Bairstow (7) and Rilee Rossouw (0) early. Although Prabhsimran Singh (30) and Shashank Singh (27) tried to rescue the team, PBKS ended up with 139 runs for nine wickets. Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets for just 20 runs and earned the Player of the Match award.

The Chennai Super Kings clinched their sixth win in the ongoing IPL 2024 season, placing them third in the standings. They now need to win two of their three remaining league matches to secure a spot in the playoffs. In contrast, the Punjab Kings currently sit in eighth place with eight points.

MS Dhoni will be next seen in action when the Chennai team takes on the Gujarat Titans (GT), led by Shubman Gill, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday, May 10.
