Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins became the talk of the town after becoming the most expensive overseas player in IPL history. Cummins was sold to two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping ₹15.5 crore surpassing previous transfer record of Ben Stokes’ ₹14.5 crores to Rising Pune Supergiant (now-defunct franchise) in IPL 2017 auction.

Pat Cummins has been swinging his arms on the field ever since World Cup 2019 and will soon be jetting off to India for three ODIs in early January. After the conclusion of India tour, he will take a rest and will not be taking part in the ongoing Big Bash League 2019/20 season. The news was confirmed by Sydney Thunders’ coach, Shane Bond.

Pat Cummins to miss Big Bash League

Sydney Thunders will miss out on the productive services of the world-class pacer. However, it seems that he will need this break from the game considering his workload. It should be noted that he was the only Australian pacer to play in all five Ashes Tests. He has taken 29 wickets in the iconic series and recorded a healthy bowling average of 19.62. He later went on to play home T20I series and Test series against Pakistan.

Pat Cummins will again add dimension to pace attack in the rest of the 2 Tests against New Zealand before jetting off to India for three ODIs. He will be back in full swing for South Africa and New Zealand series before returning to play the cash-rich IPL 2020 tournament.

The Aussie bagged a good deal worth Rs 5.4 Crore with Mumbai Indians in IPL 2018 auction but he was ruled out of the tournament owing to back issue. He was one of the key Australian players who missed the IPL 2019 season. However, the right-arm pacer will start new innings with KKR for the upcoming season.

While Pat Cummins will miss the Big Bash League this time, Steven Smith will make an appearance to the T20 competition after a long time as he will ply his trade for Sydney Sixers.
