Gone are those days when Australians used to play the game with intent and attitude. They are the side, who showed the world cricket of being ruthless. However, of late, it wasn’t the case, as the ball-tampering saga completely changed their approach towards the game. Meanwhile, former Team India opener Gautam Gambhir isn’t impressed with it.

After Tim Paine shouldered the responsibility as a leader, he was vocal about professionally playing the game. However, Gambhir feels that cricketers are not the robots to perform in that manner entirely.

There is nothing wrong in being aggressive – Gautam Gambhir

The stylish southpaw Gambhir feels that Australia should play their game in the same manner, which they used to play over the years. He added that looking into the ball-tampering saga isn’t a right thing to do, especially, after serving the punishment.

Further, Gambhir added that sledging isn’t a bad thing in the game of cricket, as it is the part of the game.

Delhi-based Gambhir also asked the fans and analysts to not look too much into the ball-tampering saga.

“Australia should play the same way they have always played; one scandal should not change their complete identity. They have always played their best when aggressive. There is nothing wrong in it as long as you do not get personal. Humans are bound to show their emotions. Robots do not play a professional sport,” Gambhir said in an event.

“I have been sledged and I have sledged also. It is not just the Australians and South Africans who do. Indians sledge too. The banter is always good and keeps everyone on their toes. Australia did something wrong [ball tampering scandal] and they have been punished for it. Let’s not make too much of a hue and cry,” he added.

Well, as Gambhir said, Australia has always been a tough nut to crack when they played with their aggressive mindset. However, it would be interesting to see how Australia would approach in upcoming matches after losing Adelaide Test by 31 runs.
