The discarded Australia cricketer, Steven Smith, has made it to the 2018 Australian Financial Review (AFR) Young Rich List for the first time. Despite receiving the 12-month ban regarding the ball-tampering saga, it is surprising to see the name of Steven Smith on the list.

Smith makes it to AFR list

For the year 2018, Steven Smith has bagged as much as $27 Million to make his name into the list, as was reported by News 18.com. However, he was found at the edge of the list with 95th rank to his name on the paper.

The Australian basketball player Andrew Bogut, who recently joined the National Basketball League’s Sydney Kings has topped the list of AFR.

On the work front:

Steven Smith, who led the Australian team last in the South African tour returned home by losing his captaincy. He got banned for a year alongside David Warner and Cameron Bancroft for his alleged involvement in ball-tampering.

Later, Smith agreed to the sanctions without any further hearings.  After settling himself from the grief, he signed a contract for Global Canada T20 Cup followed by his stint in the Carribean Premier League.

Meanwhile, Smith was also banned from the Indian Premier League for the 12-month period as well. Rajasthan Royals retained him, and he was also named skipper for the 2018 edition as well, but it wasn’t the case, as he was banned.

Recently, the Australia captain married his longtime girlfriend and continued his career by playing in the domestic circuits. He wants to keep himself in touch with the game to make a grand return when the ban concludes.

Hopefully, if things go in his favour, one might see him donning the Australian Jersey in the upcoming 2019 World Cup followed by the Ashes tour to England as well.
