Tamim Iqbal, the legendary Bangladeshi cricketer, has etched his name in the history books once again with a remarkable achievement. On Monday, he became the first-ever Bangladeshi batter to reach the milestone of 15,000 international runs. This is a truly remarkable feat, considering the rich history of cricket in Bangladesh and the plethora of talented cricketers who have represented the nation over the years.
Tamim Iqbal, who is undoubtedly one of the greatest batsmen to have ever played for Bangladesh, was just 14 runs shy of reaching this milestone before the start of the match. He reached the landmark with a double off the third ball of the ninth over, much to the delight of his fans and teammates. However, he was given a scare in the same delivery as he slogged the ball high up in the air, but it landed safely in ‘no man’s land’.

The southpaw made his international debut way back in 2007 and has since played a staggering 383 matches across all formats of the game. In the process, he has amassed a whopping 15,009 runs, firmly establishing himself as the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh in international cricket.
In Test cricket, Tamim Iqbal has scored 5,082 runs in 69 matches, which is the second-highest among Bangladeshi batters. In ODIs, he is the highest scorer for Bangladesh with 8,169 runs in 236 matches, while in T20Is, he has amassed 1,701 runs in 74 matches.
Tamim is the only batsman from Bangladesh to have scored a century in T20Is, and he also tops the list of centuries as well as runs in ODIs. In fact, he has smashed a total of 15 centuries in ODIs alone, a testament to his skill and consistency in the format.
It is important to note, however, that Tamim Iqbal did not reach the milestone of 15,000 runs solely for Bangladesh. He also played four matches for the World XI team, scoring a total of 57 runs.
