BCCI has gone through a lot of shuffling in recent past, with the emergence of COA by the Supreme Court of India but that has not affected the decision-making one bit, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Wednesday named their nominee for the prestigious Padma Bhushan award.

Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been nominated by the BCCI for the third highest civilian award in India, the Padma Bhushan award.

“Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been nominated by the BCCI for the Padma Bhushan award. There was no doubt among the members that Dhoni has impeccable credentials. Two World titles (2011 50-over World Cup and 2007 World T20), nearly 10,000 runs, 90 Test matches. There is no one better than him, who could have been nominated,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

MS Dhoni has been nominated for his immense contribution to the game of cricket and the Indian cricket board has not named any other cricketer for the same in their recommendations this year.

The 36-year-old had recently scored his 100th international fifty. Dhoni already has Arjuna award, Rajeev Gandhi Khel Ratna award, and Padma Shri award to his name and now this nomination will add another prestigious honour to the most celebrated captain the country has ever produced.

Some legendary cricketers like, Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Chandu Borde, Prof DB Deodhar, Col CK Nayudu, and Lala Amarnath have only received this honour.

Dhoni is now just 263 runs away from completing 10 thousand runs and becoming the fourth Indian batsman to achieve this feat.
