India’s limited overs deputy Rohit Sharma was able to hit the ground running in the ongoing four-day warm-up match against Cricket Australia XI. Rohit Sharma scored a fluent knock of 40 runs off just 55 balls, which included five fours and one six towards the long-on boundary. The flamboyant right-hander shimmied down the wicket to smash Cricket Australia XI off-spinner Param Uppal.

In fact, this was only the second six of the day as Virat Kohli had also scored one. Meanwhile, a knock of 40 runs would have added to the confidence of Rohit Sharma. The stylish batsman had two scores of seven and 23 in the T20I series.

Rohit Sharma can deliver the goods in Australia.

Thus, after scoring 40, Rohit is in contention to make a place for himself in the playing XI for the first Test match. The white ball opener has been in sensational form in the limited overs format and would like to carry the same form in the red ball version.

Meanwhile, Rohit has had his issues in the longest format of the game. The Mumbai batsman has failed to come up roses in the purest format. Therefore, the right-hander would be determined to turn the tables in the forthcoming series, if he is given his opportunity.

Rohit is generally troubled by swing and it is expected that he can come good in the Australia conditions. The Australian pitches and the Kookaburra ball doesn’t swing much, which can be Sharma’s friend. In fact, he likes the ball to come on to the bat and true Australian pitches will provide the same.

Therefore, there is a probability Rohit can come good in the Test series. Meanwhile, India was posted 358 after five half-century from Shaw, Virat Kohli, Vihari, Rahane and Pujara. The first Test match will take place at Adelaide from December 6.
