Former Australia pacer Brett Lee holds the record of the 10th fastest bowl in international cricket. The right-arm bowler bowled a delivery at 157.3 kmph during Australia vs South Africa Test match in March 2002.

During the Test encounter at Cape Town, South Africa kept a target of 331 for Australia in the final innings after hitting 239 and 473 in both innings. Australia managed to win the match by 4 wickets after successfully chasing the target.

9. Shoaib Akhtar- 157.4 kmph (PAK vs SL ODI, 2002)

Shoaib Akhtar has bowled the 9th fastest delivery in international cricket. During an ODI match against Sri Lanka in 2002, the Pakistan pacer touched a speed of 157.4 kmph.

It was the 4th ODI of the Sharjah Cup between Pakistan and Sri Lanka that took place on April 12, 2002. Sri Lanka slammed 239-6 batting first. Pakistan, in spite of losing only 5 wickets, could only reach 230-5 in 50 overs and lost the match by 9 runs.

Brett Lee once also bowled at an exact speed of 157.4 kmph. The Aussie pacer touched this speed during a Test match against Australia in 2002. This is the 8th fastest delivery so far. Already mentioned before, it was the same Test match between South Africa and Australia in March 2002.

South Africa got out for 239 in 1st innings to which Australia replied with 382. Later, South Africa slammed 473 to set up a target of 331 for Australia. The latter managed to eventually win the match by 4 wickets.

7. Shoaib Akhtar- 158.4 kmph (PAK vs SL ODI, 2002)

During the 5th and final ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka on April 17, 2002, Shoaib Akhtar bowled a delivery at a speed of 158.4 kmph. This is registered as the 7th fastest ball in international cricket so far.

During the match, Pakistan bagged a massive victory over Sri Lanka. Batting first, Pakistan slammed 295-6 on the scoreboard. Later, they bowled out to Sri Lanka for just 78 runs and won the match by 217 runs.

During the same Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 5th ODI of Sharjah Cup in April 2002, Shoaib Akhar bowled another pace delivery that touched 159.0 kmph speed. This is the 6th fastest ball in international cricket. Hence, Akhtar bowled two historical fast deliveries in the same game.

Shoaib Akhtar owns the record for the 5th fastest delivery as well. It witnessed a speed of 159.5 kmph. Akhtar bowled it during Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 4th ODI of the Sharjah Cup. The match took place on April 12, 2012, in Sharjah, UAE. Sri Lanka won the match by 9 runs. Batting first, Sri Lanka piled up 239-6 on the scoreboard. Later, Pakistan could only manage 230-5 till the final ball and lost the game.

4. Shoaib Akhtar- 159.9 kmph (PAK vs NZ ODI, 2002)

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar touched a speed of 159.9 kmph during a match against New Zealand. It was during Pakistan vs New Zealand 1st ODI at Karachi on April 21, 2002. This is the 4th fastest delivery so far.

Pakistan also bagged a victory in the game. Batting first, Pakistan slammed 275-6 in 50 overs. Later, they settled New Zealand for just 122 all-out, winning the match by 153 runs.

3. Shoaib Akhtar- 160.0 kmph (PAK vs NZ ODI, 2002)

During Pakistan vs New Zealand 3rd ODI on April 27, 2022, Akhtar registered the 3rd fastest delivery of international cricket. The right-arm pacer registered a pace of 160.0 kmph against New Zealand. In the match, Pakistan batted first and slammed 278-5. Later, they bowled out New Zealand for 212 and won the match by 66 runs.

2. Shoaib Akhtar- 161.0 kmph (PAK vs NZ ODI, 2002)

Shoaib Akhar also bowled the 2nd fastest delivery of international cricket. It was also bowled during the same game against New Zealand. During the Pakistan vs New Zealand 3rd ODI on April 27, 2022, Akhtar recorded a speed of 161.0 while bowling against New Zealand.

Shoaib Akhtar also bowled the fastest ball of international cricket in an ODI against England. During Pakistan vs England clash in ICC ODI World Cup 2003, Akhtar bowled at a speed of 161.3 kmph. This is registered in record books as the fastest delivery so far. The record is yet to be broken even after 20 years.

However, Shoaib Akhtar’s pace attack could not help Pakistan to register a victory in the match. England slammed 246-8 batting first and later bowled out Pakistan for just 134, thereby, winning the match by 112 runs.
