The Delhi District and Cricket Association (DDCA) is set to honour one of its most successful players, Gautam Gambhir, with a stand named after him. As per a report in The Indian Express, the stand might be unveiled next month, given everything goes as per the plan. Gambhir played all his junior and senior cricket for Delhi. His retirement match also came for Delhi – against Andhra Pradesh in 2018

Gambhir had made his Ranji Trophy debut for Delhi in 1999/00. He went on to make his Test debut after five seasons against Australia in Mumbai. A regular member of team India for the next nine years, Gambhir did not get much chance to play domestic cricket. He led Delhi to a Ranji Trophy title triumph in 2007/08.

After being dropped from the national squad in 2013, Gambhir became a regular member of the Ranji Trophy team and also led the side for next few years. Under him, Delhi also made it to the final of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018/19 with Gambhir himself leading the charts, scoring 518 runs.

At the international level, he would form a formidable opening partnership with Virender Sehwag, who also played for Delhi before switching to Haryana for a couple of seasons.
