Of late, Eoin Morgan’s team won their ninth successive One-Day series on the Pre-Christmas tour to Sri Lanka in October. However, James Anderson reckons England is the outright favourites to win the 2019 World Cup. He also said England would have to “screw-up” not to win the mega event, which begins on May 30th. Meanwhile, Anderson said apart from India, no team in the world cricket can come close to England on current form in the ODI cricket.

“There’s no-one really anywhere near [England] in the one-day form, probably India is the closest,” James Anderson said in BBC Tailenders podcast.

Moreover, England’s all-time leading Test wicket-taker said England would play accordingly, as the hosts are capable of winning the triumph, and that they had proved their capabilities in the recent past.

Anderson says England are outright favorites to win the 2019 World Cup.

“But I think in our conditions I don’t think anyone is going to come near, so I think we’ve really got to screw up if we don’t win the World Cup,” he added.

Furthermore, the English team has won 51 of their 77 ODI games since 2015, and they are yet to put a hand on the trophy. Meanwhile, James Anderson is very confident that they can achieve the feat this time.

“I don’t want to put too much pressure on the lads, but the way that England play, the talent we’ve got, the players we’ve got and the way we play as a team I just think we’ve got all bases covered,” James Anderson concluded.

England is ready for the World Cup, says Anderson.

In addition to, England has put together a formidable ODI line up over the years. Skipper Eoin Morgan along with Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, and Joe Root are the top ten ODI scorers of 2018. Meanwhile, the English team will also get the service of Alex Hales, Jos Buttler, and all-rounder Ben Stokes.

Apart from them, spinners Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali will also provide some extra benefit to the nation. However, the English side has never won the 50-over World Cup and suffered an embarrassing early exit against Bangladesh in 2015.
