In the third Test match at Trent Bridge, Indian pace attack took 19 wickets out of 20 wickets while as spinners manage to took only one wicket.

Due to the splendid performance from Indian speedsters, India made a strong comeback and won the game by 203 runs. India also put their peg in the series that is still in England’s favor with 2-1.

Compton feels that Indian pace attack learned the same lessons from respective Zimbabwe coach as was done by James Anderson and Stuart Broad. He thinks that top lot of India – Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami, and Umesh Yadav receive inputs from the coach.

“India’s pace attack hasn’t come together all of a sudden. It has taken time, and it has happened one by one, as all of these bowlers took their time coming off age. India didn’t have so many pacers at once earlier, but now they do. And all (most) of them, at some point have played under Fletcher, so it is a credit to him. This process (of building a pace attack) started long ago, and it has come together India now,” Compton told PTI today.

When asked about the difference, he finds in the past and present stature of bowlers, he asserted on pace issue.

He feels that like James Anderson and Stuart Broad the Indian bowlers now focus on the movement of the ball. Compton said that earlier Indian bowlers were not compromising on pace. However, the story is different now.

“Pace. That’s the keyword. You have to consider why the likes of Anderson and Stuart Broad have been so successful in their careers. They have a thousand wickets between them in Test cricket because they move the ball at pace. And it is no coincidence that both of them started their England careers under Duncan Fletcher,” Compton said.
