Hanuma Vihari Joins Elite List Of Indian Middle-Order Batsmen With Spectacular Show in Jamaica

The introduction of Hanuma Vihari in the Test team has strengthened India’s middle-order. He has done a spectacular job and shunned all his critics. Vihari is currently in the best of form and with another half-century in the second innings entered the elite list of India middle-order batsmen.

The batsman from Andhra may not be eye-soothing at times but has the required skill set to score runs consistently. Besides, his grit and determination to bat long is one rare quality which is very essential to be a successful Test batsman.

Vihari started the tour on a good note with a fighting knock after India lost wickets early. He backed with a 92-run knock in the second innings and partnered Ajinkya Rahane to help his side post a towering total on the board.

Hanuma Vihari, who missed his century by eight runs in the first innings, brought his maiden Test hundred in the second Test. He batted with the tail to help India post a good total. Vihari continued his good form with another unbeaten half-century as West Indies reduced India to 36 for three.

Blessed with a cool head and commanding techniques, Hanuma Vihari has played a significant part to help India take an early lead in the ICC World Test Championship. With his century and a fifty in the same Test, Vihari has entered an elite list of Indian middle-order batsmen.

He became the fifth Indian batsmen after Polly Umrigar, MAK Pataudi, ML Jaisimha, and Sachin Tendulkar to achieve this landmark. India will hope Hanuma Vihari to offer consistency in the coming days as tougher battles lie ahead.

5) Hanuma Vihari 111 & 53* against West Indies at Jamaica (2019)
