Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fast bowler Deepak Chahar has earned him a name for himself playing in the IPL. He has been economical and provided Chennai with breakthroughs with the new ball. Moreover, playing under the leadership of MS Dhoni, Chahar improved with each passing game. Impressed with his performance, the selectors have picked him as one of the net bowlers during the World Cup campaign in England.

Chahar burst onto the scene last season as he helped Chennai Super Kings. Meanwhile, he was a part of the Rising Pune Supergiant in the 2016 and 2017 but didn’t get much opportunity. He starred in 2018 season picking ten wickets from 12 matches at an economy rate of touch above 7. Deepak Chahar soon made his debut for India playing a T20I against England in Bristol while his ODI debut came against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup. He bagged one wicket each in both the games and since then is waiting for another opportunity.

He along with Navdeep Saini, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed will travel to Indian as practice bowlers. Speaking on this exciting opportunity, Deepak Chahar said it is a significant duty for him. He also added that he is ready to showcase his swingers to the Indian batsmen and help them prepare.

Indian selectors have given me a big duty. I think they have considered me because of the swing. I am ready to bowl my swingers to the Indian batsmen and get them ready for the World Cup,” Chahar said to timesofindia.com.

Want to bowl to openers

MS Dhoni has mostly bowled out Deepak Chahar within the first ten overs, and the Rajasthan pacer is keen to bowl to the opening batters. He has a handful of variations up his sleeves and wants to bowl as much as possible. Chahar is also looking forward to having interactions with the senior cricketers and picking their brain. It will be a learning curve for someone like Deepak Chahar spending time in the dressing room with world-class players.

I want to bowl particularly to our openers. I have the ability to swing the ball both ways (in-swing and out-swing). I can bowl yorkers too. I want to bowl as much as I can to our batsmen. I am also excited about interacting with the senior players in England. I always want to improve,” he concluded.

In conclusion, Deepak Chahar looked confident about India’s chances when they begin World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 5.
