The young India fast bowler Navdeep Saini has impressed in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) plying his trade for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Although Bangalore has had a horrible campaign, Saini has impressed and made it to the standbys for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. He will also tour with the Indian team in England as a net bowler to prepare for the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Saini first impressed during Delhi’s Ranji Trophy campaign in 2017-18. He helped Delhi reach the finals of the Ranji Trophy with his scintillating bowlers which earned him an India A cap. Navdeep Saini did an excellent job and was also in the India squad for the one-off Afghanistan Test after Mohammed Shami failed to pass the Yo-Yo test. The tall and lanky fast bowler has picked nine wickets from 12 games and has been consistent with his pace clocking over 150kph.

Will look to bowl fast

As he gears up for the England stint with the World Cup-bound India team as a net bowler, Navdeep Saini aims to bowl as fast as possible to prepare for the batsmen with fast pitches English conditions will offer. Saini is also ready to give his best in the nets along with Avesh Khan, Deepak Chahar, and Khaleel Ahmed.

I have been given a big responsibility of a net bowler in the World Cup. My aim will be to bowl as fast as possible to Indian players and help them prepare for the World Cup,” Navdeep told Timesofindia.com.

Khaleel (Ahmed), Avesh (Khan) and Deepak (Chahar) will also be there to help the Indian team. I just want to give my best at the nets and help Team India prepare for the big tournament,” he added.

Meanwhile, Indian batsmen struggled to tackle pace and swing the last time they toured England and lost the series. As a result, the selectors are taking four young net bowlers who will provide the batsmen with extra practice. Indian aim for their third World Cup trophy after 1983 and 2011.

The Men in Blues will begin the World Cup campaign on June 5 against South Africa at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground.
