Windies Cricket team have named a strong team and have added the likes of Chris Gayle and Andre Russell in their 15-member squad for the ICC World Cup 2019. The inclusion of Russell in the side will bolster their chances to surprise many big teams in the ICC World Cup 2019. Russell has been in excellent form and will look to make the most out of his opportunities in the marquee event.

Chris Gayle – who announced his retirement after the World Cup is also in superlative form. Ever since the Universe Boss announced his retirement, Gayle has given the opponent bowlers sleepness nights. He has continued that form in the Indian Premier League for the Kings XI Punjab. Gayle is currently the third -highest run-scorer in the tournament and will look to keep up the excellent work in the showpiece event. Besides, the likes of Nicholas Pooran, Darren Bravo, Evin Lewis have done well and will look to keep up the excellent work.

Windies head coach Floyd Reifer admitted that they have worked hard on specific things to improve the side. He also added they have a good mixture of youth and experienced cricketers to shine in the premier tournament. Floyd also reminded that they have X factor in winning the title. We did a lot of specifics. We worked on bowling plans, we did a lot of stuff on death bowling. All in all, the energy levels are very high. It is a really good team. There is a blend of experience and youth. At the World Cup, we have the X factor. The camaraderie is there,” ICC quoted Floyd Reifer, as saying.

Moreover, Floyd Reifer added that the Windies bowling department will be the key in the premier tournament. He feels the team with good batting and bowling will win the tournament, and their bowling unit have the pedigree to win it for them.

Looking at the pitches in England in the county circuit, they are very high-scoring. But I still think that the team that bowls and fields the best will win the World Cup. The batters are expected to score runs, but I think bowling is going to win it for us,” he concluded.
