Earlier, KXIP were to play there last four games on May 4, 6, 12 and 14 in Mohali.

As per the new schedule, they will play their Mohali games on Aril 15, 19 and 23.

KXIP play their last four games in Indore, now.

“There were logistical difficulties that teams would have encountered had KXIP played their home games in Mohali in May. Therefore the IPL GC has decided that the dates will be swapped and Indore will now host all their matches in May,” acting president CK Khanna said. PTI

The main reason for the change is the unavailability of Chandigarh airport which will be closed to due maintenance.

This would have affected Kings XI Punjab side. Hence, they decided to request a change in venues.

First, it was the state association which asked for a change and then, the franchise itself pushed a request.

A final decision was taken on it in the IPL GC meet, where it was also decided that Pune will host the two playoffs.

Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab plays their first game against Delhi Daredevils on April 8 at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in an away game.

Ashwin was one of the strongest contenders for the job, and in the end, he was given the duty.

Interestingly, the team also had David Miller in the ranks, who was retained by KXIP.

He has led Kings XI Punjab earlier.

Later though, he was replaced by Murali Vijay as the captain mid-way of the tournament.
