Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) team mentor Shane Warne has confirmed that his journey with the Royals has come to an end as for May 13 (Sunday) is the last day, he will be involved with the franchise.

The Jaipur-based Royals are still afloat in the tournament so far; courtesy five wins from 11 matches. But they still stand a chance of qualifying for the playoffs if they manage to win all their remaining matches from now on.

Rajasthan kept their hopes alive with a brilliant victory against Super Kings in their previous game.

Taking to his micro photo-blogging website Instagram handle, Warne thanked Rajasthan for having him in the backroom. He has been associated with this franchise from the inaugural year way back in 2008.

Interestingly, it was under the leadership of Warne that Rajasthan lifted the maiden IPL title after thrashing Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by three wickets on June 1st.

Warne led a young team quite brilliantly. No one gave Rajasthan a chance ahead of the then tournament. However, they proved to be the most consistent side in the tournament and won the final in Mumbai.

“Unfortunately my last day being involved with the @rajasthanroyalstoday as I head back to Australia tomorrow! It’s been great fun being back involved with the #IPL as I had forgotten how intense, wonderful and great this tournament is. What have I learnt? The modern-day batsman in this form of the game has evolved into terrific innovative players with tremendous power. The bowlers need a more aggressive mindset & to think how am I getting the batsman out rather than think containment first. Ground fielding is super athletic & has improved out of sight – but the overall catching can still improve,” Warne wrote.

Warne further praised all the players in the team. He urges England to introduce wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler on the regular basis.

The legendary leg-spinner individually congratulated many players from the franchise which included Ben Stokes, D’Arcy Short, Sanju Samson.

Also, Warne predicted Samson to be the next big Indian superstar along Rishabh Pant. Warne further predicted that all-rounder Jofra Archer will soon become the best fast bowler in the world.

Message from Shane Warne to his wards:

“Lastly, a few thoughts looking ahead! @josbuttler has to play Test Match cricket for England as he’s a quality player & what a difference he could make to the England test side! Mr Root should demand he be picked. I’ve really enjoyed his company as he’s a quality person too. @stokesy is someone you want in the trenches with you & has a quality work ethic. I’m looking forward to seeing him back playing international cricket, he’s a bloody good man ! @shortyjnr23 will become an awesome all-round cricketer for Australia & will surprise people with his bowling. @imsanjusamson will be the next big Indian superstar batsman along with Pant & J Archer will soon be the best fast bowler in the world !! Come on the Royals,” Warne wrote.
