Fresh off their heroics against Delhi Daredevils (DD), Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson once again sizzled with the bat – to help a visiting side Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), to recover from a poor start and post a challenging total of 179 for four against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Pune.

Asked to bat first, the in-form Sunrisers made a shaky start. Alex Hales continued to struggle at the top as he found it tough to get going.

Making the return after injury, highly-impressive Deepak Chahar ended the English opener’s painful stay at the crease after latter managed to score only two off 9 balls.

Following Hales’ dismissal, the jampacked stadium witnessed previous match heroes Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson in the middle. The duo started from where they had left against Daredevils.

In their previous game, the duo smashed record unbeaten 176 stand- they further took their time early on.  However, as a result, runs came at a slower rate. At the end of the powerplay, the Sunrisers were 29 for one.

It, however, was no precursor of the things that were to follow. Both the players soon found their groove and runs started to flow. The next four overs after the powerplay yielded 33 runs as the duo started laying the foundation for a good total.

By the time, the fifteenth over ended, the scoreboard was reading 130 as the Sunrisers had accumulated 68 runs in five overs.

In the meantime, Dhawan had raced away to his fifty off 31 balls with a six off Ravindra Jadeja. Williamson followed the suit and reached his fifty off 37 balls. The stand was finally broken in the 16th over Dwayne Bravo sent back Dhawan for 79.

Aggressive batter Dhawan departed after adding 123 runs with his skipper. A ball later, Shardul Thakur sent back Williamson, giving Super Kings a chance to turn things around.

But a cameo from Deepak Hooda (21) then helped Sunrisers finish on 179.
