The way things have panned out in the last few days, one thing is very much sure that Kolkata Knight Riders star Andre Russell is not in a happy frame of mind. It all started when the allrounder said that he would like to bat up in the order. His comments made it pretty clear that the team-management and Russell were not on the same page. Later, head coach Jacques Kallis and captain Dinesh Karthik had tried to play down the situation.

However, Russell, on Saturday, once again made it clear that things are not very rosy in the Knight Riders’ camp. Expressing his displeasure with the way the team performed during the six straight losses, he said that the team environment was not healthy. And while lamenting the mood in the camp, Russell perhaps went overboard as he made a comment on Rajasthan Royals that definitely left a bad taste in the mouth.

Russell was not at all happy with the way the Knight Riders performed against Rajasthan Royals last week and ended up making a disrespectful comment for the inaugural winners of the competition. Knight Riders had failed to defend 175 against the Royals even after reducing the latter to 98 for 5.  And a miffed Russell ended up calling Royals’ batting order ‘weak’.

“I’m disappointed that we get defeated by a team Rajasthan Royals with weak batting order. If we can’t restrict a team for under 170 with our bowling attack then we will need miracles against a strong team like Mumbai.

“They said we have been struggling in batting. But the batting has not been struggling really. We are getting the totals that we should have defended. But when you bowl as bad as our bowlers, you don’t really take catches — we have been the worst fielding team so far,” Russell had said before the game against Mumbai Indians.

Meanwhile, Russell starred with both bat and ball as Knight Riders beat Mumbai Indians to end their six-match losing streak. He scored 80 from just 40 and picked up 2 wickets as Knight Riders scored 232 for 2 before restricting Mumbai to 198 for 7.
