The members of Australia’s 2019 World Cup squad will not be available for the final few weeks of the IPL 2019, Cricket Australia (CA) has confirmed. The players will be required to attend the pre-tournament camp in early May, as the mega event begins on May 30th in England and Wales. However, the dates for the 2019 IPL are yet to get announced.

Meanwhile, the tournament is set to start and finish earlier than in previous years for players from all countries to prepare for the 2019 World Cup in the UK. The finish date for IPL 2019 would be as early as May 19, as reported, which means the Australia players in the tournament would play until April end only.

Moreover, the Australian players will require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play in the IPL 2019, which CA says, it is ‘committed’ to providing once their Shield duties are over. Meanwhile, the earlier start of the IPL reported being as early as March 23, which clashes with the Shield final. Also, the last round of the Shield begins on March 20-23, and the final is scheduled on March 28 – April 1.

However, Cricket Australia’s Interim EGM Team Performance, Belinda Clarke says with the IPL overlapping their domestic schedule, and with the 2019 World Cup in near sights, such calls were made.

Starc left out by KKR

In addition to, Australia’s paceman Mitchell Starc revealed, on Thursday, he got released from his IPL contract with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He says he will likely use the time to rest ahead of the Ashes campaign and 2019 World Cup.

Also, the former Australia cricketer, Simon Katich was a part of the coaching staff at KKR. He bought Starc at the auction last year and now said the IPL franchises are becoming wary of signing big-name Australian bowlers.

“In the past few years, a lot of the Australian quicks haven’t gone to the IPL or pulled out late,” Katich told SEN.
