Head Coach of the Indian team, Ravi Shastri in his bold and brief manner has praised Wriddhiman Saha for his match-winning knock against the Delhi Capitals on Tuesday. The coach also termed the Sunrisers Hyderabad wicket-keeper as the best gloveman in the world.

Sunrisers Hyderabad made a brave decision of dropping Jonny Bairstow to accommodate Kane Williamson in order to strengthen the middle-order. Therefore, Saha was drafted in as a wicket-keeper batsman. He opened the innings, and the move paid off for SRH.

Saha and captain David Warner put up an opening stand of  107 runs, and the former went on to score 87 runs from 45 balls. He was adjudged the Man of the Match as Hyderabad thumped Delhi by a massive margin of 88 runs.

Best Glove Man in the world: Ravi Shastri

Wriddhiman Saha played just his second game of the season. SRH would be relieved to see Saha perform exceedingly well against a challenging bowling attack like that of Delhi. This gives SRH the freedom to bat Williamson at four and give stability in the middle order which they lacked against Punjab. SRH moved up to the sixth spot and remained in the competition. They will face Bangalore on Saturday in Sharjah.

In his tweet, lauding Wriddhiman Saha, Ravi Shastri wrote, “To the best Glove Man in the world. Outstanding performance tonight – @Wriddhipops #SRHvsDC #IPL2020”

Ravi Shastri is currently in quarantine in UAE ahead of their tour to Australia. In the squad announced recently, Wroddhiman Saha and Rishabh Pant are selected as wicket-keepers for the Test series down under. Earlier in the year, on India’s tour to New Zealand, Rishabh Pant was seen donning the gloves ahead of Saha.

Now with the head coach himself calling out Saha as the best keeper in the world, not just in India, combining with Pant’s current form as seen in the IPL, this begs the question that will Saha be chosen over Pant for the Test against Australia? Not to forget Pant is already dropped from limited-overs cricket.

India will tour Australia for 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is, and 4 Tests. The limited-overs leg begins on November 27, while the red-ball cricket commences on December 17 in Adelaide.
