Javed Miandad Issues Threat To India On Kashmir Issue

The Government of India in August arbitrarily revoked Article 370 which gave special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan has time and again urged the United Nations and other countries to look at Kashmir and force India to change their decision. And now former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad has threatened India on the same.

The decision to revoke the special status earned a mixed reaction from the citizens. While the supporters lauded it as a historic move, many opined that it was a cover-up for a current economic slowdown in the country.

The decision came a few days before the Independence Day on August 15. Besides, the government also proposed the state be broken down into two Union Territories – the Jammu and Kashmir division (with a legislature) and Ladakh.

Neighbouring country Pakistan has opposed the decision from its onset. Prime Minister Imran Khan has described the central government’s move as a strategic blunder. He also blamed the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) of instilling a racist ideology among the Indian citizens.

After the government’s decision to abrogate article 370, Pakistan threatened to start a nuclear war against India. And now, former Pakistan cricketer and coach Javed Miandad has issues threats to India on the Kashmir issue.

The video which has now gone viral on social media, Miandad threatened of using swords to kill humans. While one can have a problem with the government’s decision, this kind of statements from responsible personalities is bizarre.

“Pehle main balle se chakka marta tha, ab talwar se insaan maaronga (If I can hit six with a bat, why can’t I swing sword.. I used to hit sixes with bat, now I’ll kill humans with sword),” Miandad said.
