Jofra Archer To Undergo COVID-19 Test Before Joining England Camp

English fast bowler Jofra Archer will undergo a second Covid-19 test, as a precautionary measure, before he joins the training camp. English players have resumed their individual training session in anticipation of the forthcoming series’ against the West Indies and Pakistan. Archer, who has grown as a fast bowler for his national team, was named among the 55-man training squad for summer.

England will host the West Indies for three-Test series which will get underway from July 8 with the nearly month long series concluding on 28th. Pakistan will tour England for a Test and T20I series, which will get underway from July 30 with the T20I series concluding in the first week of September.

Jofra Archer tested negative for COVID-19 in the first test

Jofra Archer and his family members tested negative for COVID-19 in the first test. He will, however, have a second test today before joining the training camp on Thursday, his cricket board said in a statement. The right-arm fast bowler has played seven Tests and 14 ODIs for the English side.

“Archer, and members of his household, have tested negative for COVID-19,” the ECB said. “He will have a second test tomorrow (Wednesday), and if he tests negative, he will join up with the training group on Thursday.”

Veterans Stuart Broad and James Anderson have resumed their individual trainings. Ben Stokes, who is likely to captain the side in the first Test, has also hit the deck. Chris Woakes has also resumed his training.
