Mumbai Indians (MI) batsman Suryakumar Yadav smashed a stunning century in the 55th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) to help his team beat Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday, May 6.

Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to invite Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat first despite knowing the fact they have an excellent batting first record. The gamble taken by Hardik Pandya and Co. did pay off as the bowlers did a great job in the match and picked up wickets at regular intervals.

Sunrisers Hyderabad lost their first wicket at the score of 56 as Abhishek Sharma departed and then they lost quick wickets with SRH being at 124/7 in 15.5 overs. After that, Pat Cummins pulled things back by playing an exceptional cameo of 35 runs in 17 balls to power his team to a fighting total of 173/8. Hardik Pandya and Piyush Chawla picked up three wickets each while Anshul Kamboj and Jasprit Bumrah got one wicket each.

Chasing the target, Mumbai Indians, as usual, were off a to poor start and once again lost three wickets inside the powerplay with Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Naman Dhir back in the hut.

Mumbai Indians found themselves in a tricky situation and a loss of any further wicket might have resulted in MI facing yet another defeat in the Indian Premier League 2024. That was when the No.1 T20 batsman Suryakumar Yadav stepped up and showcased a stupendous batting performance.

Suryakumar Yadav played his natural attacking brand of cricket and smashed the bowlers all over the park. Suryakumar Yadav's Mr.360 avatar was witnessed by fans and he stitched up 143* runs with Tilak Varma in 79 balls to lead Mumbai Indians to an amazing 7-wicket victory with 16 balls remaining.

En route to win, Suryakumar Yadav hit his 6th T20 century and smashed a six to take MI past the finish line. He smashed 102 runs off 51 balls, including 12 fours and 6 sixes.
