In their previous tour, India had refused to play a day-night Test against Australia last year in Adelaide. With India lined to tour again next year, Aussie skipper Tim Paine hopes Virat Kohli will give his approval now that his team has played a Pink ball Test. Paine tried to take a dig at Kohli, saying that the approval depends on Virat’s mood. Though Kohli didn’t answer him, former cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who doesn’t like to mince his words, gave a befitting reply to Paine.

The next Border-Gavaskar series Down Under will be played in November and January next year. By the time, the Indian National Cricket Team might play a few Pink Ball Tests to get enough experience under their belt. There are talks going around that India might play a day-night Test against New Zealand when they tour in February. Terming the same, Gautam Gambhir quoted that they are ready to play Pink Ball Test in Australia.

Gautam Gambhir gives back to Tim Paine

Gautam Gambhir stated that he would have asked Tim Paine to arrange late-night babysitting sessions if he was in the shoes of Virat Kohli. Gambhir believes that the game between India and Australia with the Pink ball on Australian conditions will be a spectacle to watch out for the fans as both teams have some quality players in their ranks.

“I like the way Australia skipper Tim Paine has “flighted” one for India captain Virat Kohli, challenging him to play a day-night fixture on the next tour Down Under. Knowing Virat, he is not the one to back out. And why should he? A day-night Test match between India and Australia at Brisbane or the MCG will be quite a spectacle.

”And you can trust Aussies to make it a truly memorable game by some smart marketing. I haven’t seen Virat’s response for Paine, but if I was him I would have straight away told him to make some late-night babysitting arrangements as we were ready!!!” Gambhir wrote his column for Times of India.

We are open to everything – Virat Kohli

Recently, Virat Kohli too responded to Tim Paine’s request saying that India are “open to anything” to take Test cricket forward provided they are given appropriate time to prepare for the clash. Kohli demanded proper warm-up matches just before the pink-ball Test stating it as mandatory to adjust to different challenges as that of regular Test matches.

”There has to be planning for a pink-ball game,” Kohli said. Maybe when we play away from home, we will figure out what could be even more difficult while playing with the pink ball. I think with a good practice game before that, and enough time to prepare, we’re open to doing anything. You can’t just play it on short notice like I mentioned last time,” he added.

Well, it would be interesting to see whether the Indian team will give green signal to the Pink Ball Test in Australia or not. Going by the current scenarios, they might play the Pink Ball Test to bring back the glory of Test Cricket.
