Out-of-favour Pakistan fast-bowler Mohammad Amir took a sly dig at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after being dropped from the T20I squad for the upcoming home series against Bangladesh. After losing eight of their last nine T20I games including five in a row after the World Cup last year, Pakistan dropped as many as seven players who toured Australia last year.

The seven dropped players are – Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Amir, Asif Ali, Haris Sohail, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Irfan and Wahab Riaz. Pakistan also recalled veteran stars Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik into the 15-man squad while also naming three uncapped players – Ahsan Ali, Amad Butt and Haris Rauf.

Mohammad Amir, meanwhile, faced the axe after his constant struggle in international cricket. During the humiliating 3-0 loss at the hands of a second-string Sri Lanka side, he managed to pick up just three wickets in three games. He went wicketless in the first two games before picking three in the final game. In Australia, he picked up just one wicket in three games.

Thus his exclusion from the T20I side is not very surprising although Mohammad Amir thinks otherwise. The left-arm pacer thinks that he was dropped from the T20I side because of retiring from Test cricket. Amir has been facing criticism from all around since announcing his Test retirement last year and thinks that it was the reason behind his exclusion from T20I side.

It all started when Pakistani sports presenter Zainab Abbas took to Twitter to question Amir’s exclusion. She pointed out his recent 6-wicket haul in the Bangladesh Premier League and wrote:

“Also – @iamamirofficial just took 6 wickets in the BPL to take his team through, why exactly has he been omitted from the squad?

In reply, Mohammad Amir wrote that the reason behind his exclusion was Test cricket before he deleted his reply.

Later, the pacer vowed to make a stronger comeback, writing:
