On or off the field, Mumbai Indians has always been pretty professional in their work. They always keep ”feelings” aside when they select their squad for the participation in Indian Premier League. Much like every season, Mumbai Indians once again came up with a few tough choices to release ahead of IPL 2020 auction. There were few surprising names like Evin Lewis and Mitchell McClenaghan.

Evin Lewis Failed to perform in IPL 2019:

As per the reports of My Khel, the defending champions of the Indian Premier League set to release the West Indies opening batsman Evin Lewis alongside the fast bowler of New Zealand Mitchell McClenaghan. The duo has been part of the series for the most number of games but unfortunately, failed to deliver the goods on a consistent basis.

Evin Lewis was bought in the 2018 IPL auction and was looked at as an opener. However, with the arrival of Quinton de Kock, Lewis’ place in the side has suddenly become uncertain.

Lewis is one of the most destructive batsmen in the current generation and has already scored two centuries in his short T20 International career so far. However, he could not deliver the same in the previous season of IPL. On the other hand, Mitchell McClenaghan has been decent enough but the franchise would like to release him.

Apart from them, Mumbai Indians will release Jayant Yadav and the young Anmolpreet Singh, who was bought for a hefty price. Well, the release of those 4 players would give Mumbai Indians an opportunity to have a couple of foreigners and a couple of local players during the auctions.

Amidst those reports, recently, we came across reports suggesting that Mumbai Indians are in talks with Somerset opener Tom Banton, who has been exceptional in the shortest format of the game. All in all, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out for Mumbai in IPL 2020 auctions.
