It’s been a long time since watching Aaron Finch in full flow at the crease. Perhaps, the burden of captaining might have taken a toll on him. Recently, the head coach of the team, Justin Langer believed that a good knock is around the corner for Aaron Finch. Meanwhile, the former Australian Shane Warne feels that Finch is on the edge of being axed.

The flamboyant batsman failed to return to form in the recently concluded 2-match T20I series against Indian National Cricket Team. However, he tried to make the most of the opportunity from the upcoming 5-match ODI series. Unfortunately, he bagged a duck in the first ODI game as well.

It is a huge thing to lose a captain ahead of ICC World Cup 2019 – Shane Warne

The legendary Australian Shane Warne reckons that the skipper of Australia is hardly left with one or two games in his kitty to perform for Australia. If he fails to do so, perhaps, Australia might end up appointing new skipper ahead of the grand event and snub Aaron Finch.

Further, he went on to explain that the change in technique for Finch in the Test format has completely messed things for the right-handed batsman. However, he is hopeful of Aaron Finch making the most of the opportunity in the remainder of India series.

“At the moment, he probably only has a game or two left,” Warne said on Fox Cricket before the start of the second ODI. “It makes a huge thing leading into the World Cup to lose your captain. He was trying to improve his technique against the red-ball, trying a different technique and it’s just messed him around in the one-day format.”

“He’s now come up against a terrific India bowling side that has worked him out … and he’s facing the new ball. But there comes a time when teams start to go ‘hang on, he’s got to make some runs otherwise we’re missing out and he’s still getting a game’,” he added.

Glenn Maxwell can be the option for captaincy:

Further, he went on to add saying that the right-handed swashbuckling player Glenn Maxwell can be the option for Australia to give the captaincy. He also quoted that bringing back Tim Paine and Matthew Wade can also be a good option.

“Maxwell did a terrific job for the Melbourne Stars. Then you’ve got the option of bringing back Tim Paine. Matty Wade could come in and do it,” Warne said. There are so many options they’ve got there but they aren’t in the side [Alex] Carey, Maxwell or [Pat] Cummins are the only options out of the ones in the side,” he added.

Well, Aaron Finch is one of the greatest strikers of the ball. Currently, he is going through his bad phase with his batting. Hopefully, he will come good as quickly as possible to make things fall in place.

Amidst the batting failures, Finch led the team from the front in shorter versions of the game. Recently, Justin Langer said that Finch did a great job for the team in terms of captaincy, especially, during the crunch situations after the ball-tampering episode.
