Sourav Ganguly Displays a Special Message for AB de Villiers

Former India skipper, Sourav Ganguly displayed a special message for recently retired Protea legend, AB de Villiers.

Surprisingly, the former South African skipper called it a day on Wednesday. De Villiers’ decision came as a shock to the cricketing world, as everybody expected him to play till the next year World Cup in England and Wales.

Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly displayed his message on the big screen during the eliminator match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals.

Meanwhile, almost every former as well as current players went on to give their best wishes to AB de Villiers.

De Villiers had taken a shocking decision on Wednesday.

AB de Villiers came up with the most daring shots in his career. Taking into account his fine career, the South African talismanic batsman will go down as a modern day great.

The right-handed batsman always could change the complexion of the game in a matter of overs. Furthermore, he also had an excellent technique to come up roses in the Test cricket.

De Villiers played 114 Test matches, 228 One-Dayers and 78 Twenty20 Internationals for the South African team. He scored 8,765 runs in the red-ball form, 9,577 runs in the 50-over format and 1,672 runs in the shortest format.

However, de Villiers has claimed he is tired and has ‘run out of gas’, as his reason to hang up his boots.

The right-hander had recently played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. The talismanic batsman had scored 480 runs in the 11 innings he played.

Meanwhile, de Villiers has confirmed he will continue to play for his domestic team, Titans. Moreover, de Villiers would be seen plying his trade in the different T20 leagues around the globe.

Sourav Ganguly took the opportunity to pay tribute to AB de Villiers. The giant screen of Eden Gardens read Ganguly’s message as,

“Well done AB de Villiers for your contribution to world cricket. The game will remember you forever, you have been a champion player.”
