There is no doubt that India is going to be the red hot favorites for the forthcoming ICC World Cup. They have covered most of the bases and can all the way in the upcoming ODI showpiece. However, there are some areas which could be India’s Achilles Heel in the World Cup.

Meanwhile, India has been the most consistent side in the Cricket World in the recent past. They hare a potent unit and would like to tick the right boxes in the mega event.

On the other hand, there is still some chunks in the armor of the Men in Blue. Thus, Virat Kohli will like his players to work on their kryptonite.

We take a look at three reasons which can stop India from lifting the World Cup:

Middle-Order.

Ambati Rayudu has done well in the IPL 2018. Furthermore, the right-hander has done a good job in the opportunities he has been given. However, Rayudu can be at sea while facing a quality bowling line-up in testing conditions.

India has over-relied on the shoulders of their top order batsmen. Their top three batsmen Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, and Virat Kohli has done the bulk of the scoring. However, the middle order hasn’t got a lot of chances to test their skills.

Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, and Dinesh Karthik must be at the top of their game in the prestigious tournament. Dhoni has returned back to form but there is no doubt that his power hitting capabilities are on the wane. So if a big score is to be chase down, Dhoni could be India’s bane. Thus, Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, and Dinesh Karthik must make sure that they apply the finishing touches to the innings. Karthik has done well in the recent past and must be backed by the team.

India’s top three batsmen Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli has done the lion’s share of the scoring. However, we have noticed that when these three batsmen have failed to get going, India’s middle order has found itself at sea.

Shikhar Dhawan has an immaculate record in the ICC events whereas Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are at their best in the last couple of years. However, the Indian team could be struggling if the top three batsman fails to deliver the goods. Thus, the over-reliance on the top three batsmen could be India’s weak point.

All-Rounder Role:

Hardik Pandya is going to be India’s first choice all-rounder. However, Pandya hasn’t played a lot of cricket in the recent past. Pandya had suffered a low back injury in the Asia Cup against arch-rivals Pakistan. Subsequently, he went on to miss the series against Windies and Australia.

Furthermore, Pandya was suspended for his crasser comments. Hence, Pandya has lacked game time in the recent past. Pandya will like to at the top of his game before the World Cup.

In fact, Pandya can be on the expensive side while bowling as he has an economy rate of 5.54. Hence it is crucial for India that Pandya bowls economical spells. Moreover, Pandya can fail to hit the straps while facing quality fast bowling line-up.
