Top 10 Teams With Most Ducks In ODI Cricket; A duck-out can be very punishing for the batsman and can hamper the batsman’s confidence. A lot of ducks also mean that the batsman is going to be put on the chopping block by the selection committee.

The advent of one day cricket goes far back to the era of the early 1970s. We all are very familiar with the batsman’s barbarous and demolishing range of strokes in the back end of the innings which takes the bowlers to haywire.

But, ultimately it’s the beginning of the innings, in which even the most maverick batsman seems to be vulnerable, everyone has those butterflies in the stomach before they take the first run.

Sometimes, even the best in the business are inept to induce a single run on the board.

Regarding the same, we figured out top 10 teams with the most number of ducks in ODI format of the game.

Top 10 Teams With Most Ducks In ODI Cricket:

10. South Africa – 355

Well, it is an expected name in this chart, as they are the last to enter the International cricket and also stayed away from playing for a few years in the middle.

Overall, they have registered 355 ducks in the ODI cricket history so far, which puts them at the 10th position. Overall, they have played 629 matches with 139 players.

9. Bangladesh – 359

The numbers show how Bangladesh were troubled with their batsmen in the ODI form of the game so far. They have played a couple of hundred matches less than South Africa, still, they registered the most number of ducks than that of South Africa.

In total, they registered 359 ducks out of 376 matches.

However, of late, they have picked up their game and doing exceptionally well to make things fall in place.

8. Zimbabwe – 486

The consistency has always been a lacking factor for Zimbabwe in this format of the game. The lack of basics for the batsman and the bowlers hardly contributing with the bat, it is expected from them to see at this position.

Barring the era in which majestic players like the Flower Brothers, Alistair Campbell, Heath Streak featured, they have been an invariably inconsistent side. So far they have played in 529 matches and have 486 ducks to their credit.

7. New Zealand – 525

The Kiwis have been a consistent performer whenever they have donned coloured Jersey. They are considered as specialists in limited-overs cricket but are yet to triumph to the World Cup glory. New Zealand started playing ODI’s from as early as 1973 and have so far played 772 matches with 525 ducks to their name.

Of late, they have become a force to reckon in ODI format of the game. Under the astute captaincy of Kane Williamson, New Zealand have been doing pretty well.

6. England – 531

The inventors of the game find Sixth place in the lineup with 531 ducks to their credit. Though they have produced majestic batsmen to the cricketing world, they have their lows with most of them failing to get off the mark for quite a few times.

The team which played its first game in 1971 has so far capped 257 players in ODI’s which is the most number of players for any team in this format of the game. They have played 749 matches and have piled up 531 ducks.

5. Australia – 559

Surprisingly, the Australian side lies at the 5th position in this list. But, undoubtedly the Kangaroos are the best ODI team too has played the game. They are the five-times World Champions and their glorious stats are second to none.

Australia played the second most number of matches which is 949 and has 559 ducks against their name. This colossal side has also racked up the most number of the fifties that is 1164 and is second in terms of most hundreds – 230.

4. India – 593

One of the best producers of the batsman in the world cricket, the Indian National Cricket Team takes number four position in the chart. They have registered 593 ducks in the ODI format of the game, which are six less than the third-ranked team.

The Indian team has played the most number of one-day matches and has been the World Champions twice in 1983 and 2011 respectively.

In the 987matches, they have played so far since their debut in 1974, Team India has got 593 ducks. They hold the record for most number fours as well as centuries in ODI’s.

3. West Indies – 599

The power hitters of the game West Indies holds number three position with 599 dismissals. Though they have produced the likes of Brian Lara, Chris Gayle, Viv Richards and Chanderpaul, the West Indies team have endured a few failures as well.

They were the Champions in the first two editions of World Cup Cricket. But, now they are hardly the shadow of their historical legacy. In the 822 matches they have played, on 599 occasions, their batsmen have got out before opening their accounts.

2. Sri Lanka – 629

The Island nation, which produced the wonderful batsman like Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and Jayasuriya, is at second in the chart with 629 ducks to their credits.

The Sri Lankans who played their first match in 1975 and has so far featured in 852 matches has piled up 629 ducks.

Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardene, Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas and Romesh Kaluwithrana are the five players who feature in the list of top 10 players with most ducks in ODI Cricket. Surprisingly, Sanath Jayasuriya leads the list with most ducks- 34.

Pakistan tops the unwanted list with 658 ducks in 927 matches. They gave produced many batting greats in the world cricket but unfortunately, they also ended up facing the poor display of cricket with a bat.

Pakistani duo of Shahid Afridi and Wasim Akram occupies the second and third places on the list of most ducks by an individual in ODI’s with 30 and 28 ducks respectively.

They are currently in troubled waters with batsman failing to carry the legacy of their legends.
