India beat Australia by seven wickets to win the series 4-1 and with this victory, Men in Blue are now the number side in the world with 120 points, dethroning South Africa who are now at second 119 points.
Winning the toss, Steven Smith decided to bat first at Nagpur but Aaron Finch and David Warner failed to give the visitors a similar start like they did in Bangalore. India made three changes in their eleven and new ball bowlers were spot on and did not let Aussies to get runs at a decent pace.
The pressure of scoring quickly got to both explosive batsmen and they both fell after playing a false shot leaving the young middle order in trouble. Kedar Jadhav’s unorthodox style of bowling got the better of Steven Smith, as he failed to leave any impact in this series.
Australia managed to score just 242 runs in their innings, leaving India a target of 243. The hosts were once again off to a brilliant start courtesy, Rohit Sharma, and Ajinkya Rahane who once again posted third consecutive 100-run stand, while Rahane missed out yet again, Rohit Sharma went on to score his first hundred of this series, as well as India’s first one.
Riding on Rohit’s brilliance, Virat led side managed to secure an easy win in the end and the series ended at 4-1 in favour of the hosts. India chased down the target in 42.5 overs.

Hugely enjoyable watching Rohit Sharma bat today. In terms of runs/innings & strike rate, not too different from Kohli in the last 2 years
