The 21st match of ICC T20 World Cup 2021 sees Namibia face off Scotland at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. Namibia have surprised one and all en-route their way into the Super 12s.  Their start wasn’t great, having suffered a 7-wicket defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka. However, this was followed by two consecutive wins only to secure their berth for the Super 12s.

Namibia exhibited a brilliant performance in their second game, resulting in a win against Netherlands, thanks to a blistering 66-run knock from David Wiese. This was followed by a do-or-die match victory over Ireland by 8 wickets.

Namibia bowled great lengths and didn’t allow Ireland to score runs easily in the first innings. Jan Frylinck was the stand-out bowler, picking as many as  three wickets, while David Wiese finished his figures with two wickets. As a result of that, Ireland were restricted to just 125 runs in the first innings.

Gerhard Erasmus then scored a match-winning half-century to help Namibia earn their second consecutive win of the tournament. David Wiese too made a valuable contribution of 28 runs off just 14 deliveries. Namibia will be playing their first game of the Super 12 round on Wednesday against Scotland. They would look to start their Super 12 campaign with a win.

Scotland, on the other hand,  exhibited brilliant performances in the first round to reach the Super 12 stage. They won three out of three matches to reach the main round. They began their campaign with a six-wicket win over Bangladesh before winning two more matches to reach the top of the table.

However, a flying Scotland was brought to the ground on Monday after suffering their first game of the Super 12 round against Afghanistan. Afghanistan batsmen tore apart Scotland as they notched a mammoth 190-run total in the first innings. Safyaan Sharif picked 2 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs. Josh Davey picked one wicket but went for 41 runs in his four overs, while Mark Watt claimed one for 23.

In reply, Scotland was bundled out for just 60 runs. George Munsey and Kyle Coetzer gave a decent start until Mujeeb Ur Rahman broke the partnership in the fourth over. Once Coetzer went back to the hut, wickets kept falling at regular intervals and Scotland batsmen fell like a pack of cards in no time. They would look to make a strong comeback ahead of the next game against Namibia.

The pitch has been very slow is and the ball isn’t coming on nicely to the ball. The bowlers have enjoyed bowling here. If they manage to bowl the right lengths, then they are likely to receive the rewards for the same.

The last game here was played between Australia and South Africa. An exceptional bowling performance from Australia helped them restrict South Africa to just 118 runs in 20 overs. South Africa too bowled brilliantly and took the game till the very last over of the match. The batsmen need to bat really well to produce goods here.

Average 1st Inns scores 139
