Arshdeep Singh‘s precise yorkers and capacity to swing the ball both ways have won him, admirers, from across the border in Pakistan after his heroics helped India win again on Wednesday.

In order to ensure that India returned from Adelaide with all three points and moved one step closer to the semifinals, the young bowler took two wickets against Bangladesh and delivered a magnificent final over under pressure. And the greats of Pakistani cricket from that country couldn’t stop praising Arshdeep’s abilities.

Credit To Team Management And Captain For Backing Arshdeep Singh: Shoaib Malik

In a panel discussion on A Sports, former Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik expressed his admiration for Arshdeep for maintaining his composure despite being criticised on social media after dropping a catch against Pakistan in the Asia Cup.

“In Asia Cup, he gave away runs during crunch situations. He missed a crucial catch or two as well. But he didn’t lose his confidence, that’s what matters,” Malik said.

Sitting on the same panel, former Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram interjected and said: “It was blown up on social media in India but he said it didn’t bother him. This attitude is very important.”

Malik responded: “The credit goes to the management and the captain that they backed him. They know he is their guy; he will give away runs, he will drop catches but he is their best player and will back him. Look at the results.”

Arshdeep Singh Realised Only Full Bowls Will Save Him: Shoaib Malik

Malik added that Arshdeep Singh had the foresight to reverse course after a good-length ball he bowled was struck over the fence early in the over, of which Bangladesh needed 20 overs to win.

“He bowled one good length and realised they are being hit because the boundaries on both sides were short. So he realised that only full bowls will save him in that scenario…” Malik said.

He has raised his hands and delivered whenever India has required him. His career has been characterised by this constant theme. He is tied with Sam Curran for the most wickets in the Super 12 with nine victims in four games.
