The tensions would've started in the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) camp as they found themselves in a crucial position in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The KL Rahul-led side had a forgettable outing in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

The 57th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 took place between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The KL Rahul-led side was left clueless and they suffered a 10-wicket thrashing.

Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and opted to bat first. It seemed that they would post a big total on the board. However, that wasn't the case as they started off poorly with the bat. Quinton de Kock (2) and Marcus Stoinis (3) perished early and the team came under pressure.

Skipper KL Rahul (29) struggled with his timing whereas Krunal Pandya (24) played a vital hand with the bat. Lucknow Super Giants were left tottering at 66/4 and it seemed that they would get all out early. However, after that, Ayush Badoni (55*) and Nicholas Pooran (48) brought their team back in the game.

The duo added unbeaten 99 runs and bailed Lucknow Super Giants out of trouble. Based on their collective effort with the bat, the home team posted a total of 165 runs on the board. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 2/12 for his team.

Lucknow Super Giants looked clueless with the ball as Sunrisers Hyderabad batters Abhishek Sharma (75*) and Travis Head (89*) launched an attack on the bowlers right from the start. They made a mockery of the bowling lineup as almost every ball flew out of the park.

The duo added unbeaten 167 runs and chased the target inside 10 overs to help Sunrisers Hyderabad register their 7th win of the season. They also boosted their NRR and made sure that they made their case strong for the playoffs.

Lucknow Super Giants Qualification Scenario for IPL 2024 Playoffs

The loss against Sunrisers was the 6th loss for the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They are currently placed 6th on the points table with 6 wins and 6 losses under their belt. They also have an NRR of -0.769, which isn't ideal for them in the context of playoffs.

However, even after the loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad, they still have the chance to make it into the playoffs. Lucknow Super Giants have to win their next two games of the IPL 2024 as it will take them to 16 points, which might take them to the playoffs.

However, there's no guarantee of that. Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings are also on the 12 points and Lucknow Super Giants would want both teams to lose one of their remaining games and the way will be easy for them. A loss for LSG now would mean curtains in the tournament.
