Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has been in great form in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, where India reached the semi-finals of the tournament. The Men in Blue will take on England in a semi-final encounter at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, November 10.

Virat Kohli has experienced highs and lows this year. After giving up the Test captaincy earlier in the year, he had a quiet IPL 2022 and a poor tour of England across all three formats. The batsman struggled with his form for most of the year and even took a break from the game after the tour of England in July.

Speaking on the Royal Challengers Bangalore podcast, Kohli revealed what text Dhoni sent him when he was going through a lean patch in his career and how that message affected his game thereafter.

It Hit Home To Me, It Was Like This Is It – Virat Kohli

“The only person who has genuinely reached out to me has been MS Dhoni. And for me that is such a blessing to know that I could have such a strong bond and such a strong relationship with someone who is such a senior to me where things are, it is a friendship which is based on a lot of mutual respect,” Kohli said on RCB Podcast.

“It is one of the things he mentioned in the same message reaching out to me, that when you are expected to be strong and looked at as strong individual, people forget to ask how are you doing? So, it hit home to me, it was like this is it,” he added.

The Asia Cup 2022 was a turning point for Virat Kohli, who returned to the game after a long break. He missed India’s bilateral series before the Asia Cup and took some time off the field. After returning from the game, he looked in great shape for the Asia Cup 2022, and he went on to score his maiden T20I century in India’s final game of the tournament, which was also his 71st international century.

Further talking about the same, Kohli said, “I have always been looked at as someone who is very confident, very mentally strong and can endure any situation and circumstance and show us the way. Sometimes what you realise is that at any given point of life, you need to take a couple of steps back and understand how you are doing.”

Virat Kohli has been in excellent form in the ongoing World Cup. He is the highest run-scorer in the multinational tournament with 246 runs at an average of 123 and a strike rate of 138.98, including three half-centuries in five matches.
