Netherlands National Cricket Team captain Scott Edwards is hoping that the India National Cricket Team star batter Virat Kohli doesn’t repeat his heroics from the Pakistan clash in the match against the Netherlands.

In the 16th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which was played between arch-rivals India and Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, October 23, Virat Kohli smashed a remarkable 82 runs off 53 balls, including 6 fours and 4 sixes, to win the Player of the Match award.

Chasing 160 against the strong pace attack of Pakistan, India lost the early wickets of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel and were down and out at 31/4.

Then, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya stitched up a 113-run stand that shifted the momentum towards India. Hardik got out in the ridiculously dramatic final over, but Kohli remained unbeaten and guided India to a triumph in the nail-biting match.

The Men In Blue will next lock horns with the Scott Edwards-led Netherlands National Cricket Team at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday, October 27.

At the pre-match press conference, Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards applauded Kohli’s “surreal” performance against Pakistan, but he was hopeful of the 33-year-old not performing well against them.

“What Virat (Kohli) did the other day was surreal. Hope he doesn’t repeat it against us,” said the Netherlands captain.

The 26-year-old Scott Edwards further said that there is “not too much pressure” on them heading into the India clash as they are not expected to clinch the victory against the No.1 ranked side in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings.

“Not many people expect us to win, so not too much pressure on us. Our brand of cricket means perform to the best of our ability. Just bring our A-game. If it’s enough it’s enough. If it’s not,” said Edwards.

“You always dream of playing World Cup and against arguably one of best teams in the world is surreal,” he added.
